My husbands heart ~ISSR SHILOH~

Yuki came to us as a surprise. We went to a show with Mali and our new puppy Rani here in NC. When we left that morning I told Steve, my husband I heard Mali tell Rani, every time we pack the car like this we are getting another puppy. I laughed and told her, "No we are not getting another puppy!" I was so hap… Continue

Pleasant Surprise

My family and I have been displaced from our home as we had a large amount of water damage which caused mold. We have lived for a few weeks in a hotel. This past week we took all three of our girls to Northern NY to a dog show as Rani was competing, and my husband and I had a few seminars to take. Rani was also going to take her adult temperament test at this ti… Continue

Medical alert service dog

I have a young service dog named Mali. I got her when she was 11 weeks old. I had a trainer come to my home to help with her training through advanced obedience and hand signs, since then I have done the rest of her training and Mali has passed all the rest of her tests with 100%. At this time, Mali is only 15 months old.

Mali had only had her harness for a couple of months. We were very proud of her, as she had passed the adult temperament test earlier than any other Shiloh so far on record. O… Continue

To Wooo or not to wooo

Mali and I were stopped in traffic. I had all the windows rolled down as it was not very hot out and there was a nice breeze. Mali was enjoying flirting with the people in the car next to us when she heard the sirens of a fire truck. The expression on her face was priceless as she… Continue

Mali and the Monster

~ This is an older post I typed about mali when she was a young dog but it is just so cute i thought I would bring it here~

Mali and the Monster

Every night Steve and I take Mali to the green way. The green way is a 17-mile walking park. In between the trails, we walk and the return course there is a large field and today there were tractors racking and bailing hay. Mali loves going to go to the green way. She has many friends there, who often walk with us in a pack as we travel our three-mil… Continue

ISSR SHILOH SHEPHERDS

I had wanted to have another dog for many years. I wanted a dog which would be loyal, easy to train, intelligent, a watch dog not a guard dog, impressive in mind and body. One day I stumbled across a picture of a Shiloh Shepherd. I could not stop looking at the picture. It featured a group of shepherds who were eye popping to look at. Some of them were shorthaired or what I later learned is called smooth coated, and some of them were long haired, or plush if you will.

The plush Shepherds look s… Continue

Puppies

To all Tasha had 8 puppies on Nov 15. Unfortantly we lost two little girls one was dead at birth and the other a little runt a week later. We bottle fed the the runt but she was just to little and weak to survive. They were both buried with my daughter 8 yr mini lop rabbit which died on Nov 15. We had a happy blessing in our home and a sad one too. My daughter had her rabbit since she was 3 months old and now she is gone.

As for our little 6 fat puppies, they are now two weeks old and eyes open… Continue

What's a Breeder to do?

Are you all having a rough time with the economy being in the toilet? This is a time to really be aggressive in advertising. It is very important that you advertise in local free classifieds and also add your state to your page titles of your website. People have been buying local because airline shipping is so expensive now. Many are also becoming very wary because of internet scammers and want to buy close to home to avoid being ripped off. Any advertising you do be sure to mention your state… Continue

Children and Pets

So your child wants a pet.Let me start by saying, DO NOT ever place the full responsibility of pet care on a child. Children do not even care for themselves properly. We govern our children's eating, hygene, dressing and play. This is for good reason. Children are not equipt to make good decisions. They have not the experience to know what is a good or bad decision. How can you responsibly expect a child to decide what is good for a pet? If your child accepts responsibility for a pet you should… Continue

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WELCOME ALL BREEDERS * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Our Ethical Animal Breeders Social Network was formed on the Ning platform to give fellow animal breeders a place to fellowship with other breeders alike.

This is a social network made up of educated breeders of many types of animals. We are strong strong supporters in the fight against all animal cruelty. We are responsible breeders believe we have the right and bound by our knowledge to breed in a responsible manner in order to protect the bloodline for the breeds of animals that showcase the integrity, sportsmanship, showmanship and characteristics of the domesticated and or working animal.

Our membership does not support the ideas of animal, pet or production mills also known as " Puppy Mills " Breeding animals should not be confused with hobbyist as it takes many years to become a responsible breeder through the learning, research and experience phases, " Breeders are not born over night "

In closing, it is my hope that you will utilize this site to help you better understand the responsibilities of breedmanship and set forth to educate each other of the importance of breeding good quality off springs.

My name is Michael aka " RAB " I am married with two children. My home is in the mountains of East Tennessee. I am a retired professional photographer with a bachelors in the Arts.Other than this social network, I own another social network site on the Ning platform . It's called Our Earthly Animals Social Network. We are a social network made up of loyal members that promote and understands the need for responsible animal welfare, wild and domesticated a like.

My passion is rabbits as I have been breeding and rescuing them for 20 plus years. As I am not a licensed veterinarian I do have a vast knowledge of all aspects of rabbit care as well as breeding practices

My main mission of this site is to provide the user a safe, friendly and educational atmosphere by not allowing users that may join to bash any or all breeders of this site. Membership to quality sites such as this site is imperative to the proud breeders of America and throughout the world. To unite together and educate people about the need for animal breeders.

In closing, I request you do your part by partisipating within the Ethical Animal Breeders site as much as your time permits...

Together we can take this site to a higher ground and make it a primer site for animal breeders.

If you would like to help manage this site, please notify me via email at easitemanager@yaoo.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Responsible breeders seek to improve their breeds with every litter. To reach this goal, they must devote hours to continually learning as much as they can about their breeds, including health and genetic concerns, temperament, appearance and type. They also need to know about general behavior, training and health care. In short, they become animal experts on the type of animal they breed. experts.

Virtually every animal/pet is the best in the world in the eyes of its owner. Responsible breeders have the ability to separate their love for their dog from an honest evaluation of its good and bad points. Why is a detached point of view necessary? Breeding is hard work. Every breeding is a carefully planned endeavor to produce a better animal. A good breeder recognizes a animals flaws and finds a mate with characteristics that will help reduce or eliminate those flaws. So how can you honestly evaluate your breeding stock?

Seek assistance from some of the best informational resources available - longtime breeders This person should have extensive knowledge of your animals line and, like you, should want to see it continually improved.

Good offs springs start long before their parents are bred. Both the sire and dam need constant care, or conditioning, to produce the best offspring. This means regular veterinary care, screening for genetic problems, pre-breeding health tests, regular exercise and good nutrition. It means consulting with a veterinarian or experienced breeder to ensure that you know how to meet the dam's (mother's) special nutritional needs while she is in whelp (pregnant).

It also means maintaining your animals mental health. Stressed animals can experience fertility problems. Many breeders swear by the belief that the dam's temperament affects the off springs - good off springs come from good mothers. Consequently, they avoid breeding shy or unstable pets.

Preparing for off springs means building a proper nursery. A whelping/nesting box must be dry, very warm and draft-free. It should be big enough for the mother to be able to move about freely with sides that will safely contain the off springs.

Once the off springs are weaned, they become much more active and require lots more work. You will need to oversee feeding to ensure each off spring gets adequate food. You will need to keep the towels or shredded newspaper lining the whelping/nesting box clean. So offsprings will need their first round of shots, they may need grooming and they will definitely need plenty of playtime and opportunities for getting used to being around people. You may even want to start working with them on basic obedience commands to ease their transition to their new homes.

As you can probably imagine, once it's time for the off springs to go to new homes, you've invested a lot of yourself in them. A difficult and important aspect of breeding is making sure your animals go to owners who will provide loving and permanent homes.

The complete picture is important to responsible breeders. They make sure new owners know what to expect, both the pros and the cons, from the furry little bundles they're taking home. If their particular breed requires extensive grooming, drools profusely, or can be difficult to train, responsible breeders will point that out.

If a breeder breeds Dogs, They will also provide all the necessary paperwork for new owners to register their dogs with the AKC, which will allow them to participate in the sport of purebred dogs.

Responsible breeders also know the right questions to ask prospective owners in order to get a feel for the type of home they'll provide. Some of these questions include:

* Why does the person or family want a dog?

* Who will be primarily responsible for the dog's care?

* Are there any children? If so, how old are they?

* Does anyone in the household have allergies?

* What is the potential owner's attitude toward training and obedience?

* How often is someone at home?

* Will they have time to exercise and play with the animal?

If feasible, it's not unreasonable for a breeder to make a house call after the off spring has had time to settle in with its new family. Some breeders require buyers to sign contracts indicating the specific conditions of care.

Important qualities to look for in potential owners are interest and inquisitiveness about you and the animals you breed. A person or family truly committed to responsible animal/pet ownership will want to learn about the breed and how to care for it.

Now comes the best part of being a breeder. (No, it's not putting away the newspapers and food.) It's having those great families you selected call you with news of puppy's first tooth, first veterinarian visit, It's getting holiday cards. It's getting family portraits with your off spring animal (yes, it'll always be yours) smack in the middle. What's not to love about being a breeder at these times?

But now can come the worst part, too. It's the nice young couple who is divorcing and neither person can keep the animal. It's the distraught owner calling from the veterinarian with news of an unforeseen illness.

Responsible breeders are there for all situations - both good and bad. They know they were responsible for this animal being born, so they are responsible for it until the day it dies. They are willing to provide guidance and answer as many questions as they are asked. They are always concerned about their animals they have been responsible for breeding.

So my question to you.... Are you a responsible breeder?

A good breeder is a person who practices the vocation of mating carefully selected specimens of the same breed to reproduce specific, consistently replicable qualities and characteristics.

This might be as a farmer, agriculturalist, or hobbyist, and can be practiced on a large or small scale, for food, fun, or profit.

A responsible breeder cares about each animal they bring into this world. They treat the animal as part of their extended family when they place it in a new home.

* They take positive steps to make sure the animals they create will never land in a shelter or in rescue. .

* They may require deposits to encourage commitment.

* They Interview interested parties to ensure they are a suitable match for the animals that will be placed.

* They verify the information that is given to them by potential clients.

* A responsible breeder is honest about the qualities of the animals they breed by explaining the good points, and the not so good points.

* Promise to take in, or help place, any animal they have caused to be created, no matter how old they are.

* Remain available to serve as a resource, advise and support for typical problems encountered in raising, training and caring for your animal.

* Take positive steps to ensure that the animals they produce are a source of joy, not sorrow.

* Know the typical genetic diseases for your breed. Test for them, and do not breed a animal that may pass on serious genetic disease or deformity.

* They research the pedigree for your animal if there is any (and any prospective mate). Find out the health and temperament of your animals siblings, half siblings, cousins, aunt, uncles, parents and grandparents.

* They have education or knowledge in basic genetics to help them understand why two animals that are perfectly healthy can produce off springs that will suffer serious genetic disease.

* They make sure that the animals they produce are capable of a full and happy life, sound in mind, body and temperament. Recognize that good physical health is not enough; the animal should be raised to be great companions too.

If you do not adhere to the above, you are nothing but a animal mill and you give the good responsible animal breeders a bad name.
